GPS on OpenMoko

The (closed source, binary only) driver for the Hammerhead GPS chip in the OpenMoko phone was finally released today. I took it for a little spin, and it seems to work correctly. Getting a fix took a long time, but it appears to be fine after that. I recorded some data (on the NEO: cat /tmp/nmeaNP > gps.log), then used GPSBabel to convert the log file to csv:

gpsbabel -i nmea -f gps.log -o csv -F gps.csv

GPSBabel also has the ability to export keyhole files for Google Earth/Maps, but I kept running into the error: “We could not finish uploading your file. No changes have been made to the map.” when trying to import the resulting file using Google Maps. So here is a lat/long graph of a quick jog around my apartment complex:
